The Challenge

In 2011, SMART Technologies was in need of a much improved projector service experience for its U.S. customers. Turnaround times were slow, communication and reporting was poor and only one service location added to a weak customer experience in its biggest market.

The Solution

After one visit to Mendtronix’s headquarters in San Diego, SMART service management quickly decided on a trial use of the MTI’s west coast operation, immediately solving their need for bi-coastal support. Within one year, MTI’s performance earned it a chance to gain a growing share of the work in the east via MTI’s Atlanta operation. Within another nine months, MTI had earned 100% of SMART’s projector repair business in the U.S. The company also improved overall communication, turnaround, and quality.

The Result

Today, SMART is enjoying a single and reliable U.S. projector service partner and improved communications with the Asian manufacturer, Coretronic. This example highlights MTI’s ability to work efficiently with multiple parties. Daily operations include shipping new exchange requests within 24 hours, parts forecasting, safety stock management, extensive reporting, board repairs, call center support, website integration, warehousing, freight management, RTV execution and 24 hour out-of-warranty repairs. MTI is now also servicing Canadian out-of-warranty customers with a streamlined cross-border round trip process in partnership with UPS.

The Challenge

In 2006, National CineMedia (NCM) Media Networks was frustrated with repair services and began to search for alternative options. NCM had broken equipment returned to Denver initially and then reshipped to its various repair vendors. Repaired product then came back to Denver and into a safety pool maintained there where daily trouble tickets created demand for replacement shipments across 48 states.

The Solution

Mendtronix was selected as NCM’s outsourced repair solution. Key value adds included direct equipment shipments from the theatres and control of NCM’s safety stock , fulfilled directly from MTI. Additionally, trouble tickets submitted as late as 4:00 PT were shipped the same day for overnight delivery across the country. In 2009 after MTI opened its Atlanta office, NCM gained a bicoastal partner and with a heavier concentration of theatres east of the Mississippi, freight costs were significantly reduced.

The Result

MTI maintained a competitive network of sources for original parts, and was fully capable of advanced board repairs. Turnaround times improved, aftermarket costs decreased, and savings were passed along to NCM’s customers. Over time, MTI was given additional digital display products which helped expand the company’s product portfolio. After seven years, the NCM/MTI relationship has grown to include a full portfolio of aftermarket and supply chain services.

Mendtronix Expands Contract Manufacturing Capabilities, Facility

Mendtronix, a leading electronics repair and logistics company, has completed a major facility improvement of its San Diego operation and expanded capabilities in Contract Manufacturing.  A new laboratory has been built to handle custom product assembly, software configuration and quality control services for Avizia and other electronics manufacturers.

According to Steve Storr, CEO and President of Mendtronix: “Our contract manufacturing expansion allows Mendtronix to service our clients with the highest degree of quality.  Focused, productive employees in a top notch environment creates a win-win outcome for Mendtronix and our clients.”

This new Contract Manufacturing space adds another module in a flowchart-like process for turn-key logistics services.  Parts are delivered from client’s vendors and logged into inventory in Mendtronix’ warehouse and online system.  As client fulfillment orders are requested, parts are picked from inventory, staged in the Contract Manufacturing facility and prepped for assembly.  There Mendtronix’ technicians build custom orders to suit client’s customer.  Thorough testing of hardware and software are part of Mendtronix’ deep and detailed Standard Operating Procedure to ensure the highest level of quality.  Finished products are then moved from the Contract Manufacturing Facility to the warehouse where they are crated and staged for delivery.  Mendtronix then arranges delivery to end user’s final destination.

These turn-key, value-added functions allow Mendtronix’ clients to focus on what they do best: new product innovation and management of client relationships.  Mendtronix handles the repetitive assembly process with the careful attention of experienced electronics hardware and software technicians versed in electronics manufacturing and repair.  Parts/inventory management, warehousing, order fulfillment and delivery are outsourced to Mendtronix’s team.  Clients have the ability to work with a single vendor to manage the entire process along with 24/7 online view of work-in-progress for all client orders and activity.
